SAT Math Summer Camp July 18-24 | Alpharetta (in-person)
Intensive SAT Math Prep Course Description: This camp is designed to prepare high school students (and advanced middle school students who plan for Duke TIP/ Johns Hopkins CTY) for the math section of the new SAT. Students will be trained on the new SAT Math concepts on top of exploring a systematic fashion of mastering techniques used on the SAT Math Exam. SAT Math Camp is envisioned to equip students with a variety of questioning styles seen on the SAT in addition to cultivate & strengthen their problem solving skills besides their math skills. This course will also include a discussion of the effective use of a graphing calculator.Prerequisites: Algebra 1What to Bring: A TI-83 or TI-84 Plus or TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator.About Instructor: Sema Duzyol, experienced High School Math Teacher & Math Olympiad Coach, holds a BS degree in Engineering and MS in Mathematics. She holds a Georgia teaching certificate and also holds gifted endorsement, certified in teaching gifted students. Ms. Duzyol is a two-time recipient of the Edyth May Sliffe National Education award in 2018 and 2019. Ms. Duzyol received many awards during her teaching career starting 2004. One of the recent awards she has received is the University of Chicago's Outstanding Educator Award in 2020 and the other one is the Star Teacher Award in 2022 by Midtown Atlanta Rotary Club. She has received the Star Teacher Award for the last 4 years in a row. She has taught all levels of upper elementary, middle and high school level mathematics courses including college level AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Calculus II, Multi-variable Calculus, and Linear Algebra courses. Mrs. Duzyol coached the Georgia State Mathcounts Team for the last seven years at the National Mathcounts Competition in 2016-2022. Best placement of Georgia Mathcounts Team under her leadership is 4th place in the Nation, additionally Georgia won the "Most Improved Team" award for their impressive trajectory two years in a row in 2016 and 2017. In only two short years after she started coaching, Georgia has advanced from 28th place to fourth in the country, the highest ranking ever achieved in the state's history. In 2022, GA Mathcounts team showed a spectacular performance and placed 7th as a team and Georgia team had a student placed 3rd individually in the nation for the first time in Georgia's history. Meetings will be held in person at our Alpharetta location.
