Winter Tech Camp (3D Design and 3D Printing + Game Design w/ SCRATCH + Robotics w/ EV3) - January 3-5

Day 1: 3D Design and 3D Printing

Students will use Tinkercad 3D Design application. Tinkercad is a simple, online 3D design and 3D printing app for everyone.

Tinkercad is used by designers, hobbyists, teachers, and kids, to make toys, prototypes, home decor, Minecraft models, jewelry the list is truly endless!

Once students completed their designs, they will be able to print via 3D Printer at the end of the day and will take their printed designs home at the end of the Winter Tech Camp.

Day 2: Game Design with SCRATCH

Scratch has been developed by the Lifelong Learning Group at the MIT Media Lab. It is a platform that promotes mathematical and computational skills as well as creativity, reasoning and collaborative working.

Scratch can be used to make a number of multimedia applications such as games, animations, simulations, stories, and art.

During the camp, students will learn designing and coding their own game with SCRATCH.

*Participants will learn and practice the design thinking methodology to understand real-life problems and solve them by incorporating the knowledge they have learned

Day 3: Robotics with LEGO EV3 Mindstorms
Beginners explore the world of robotics using the LEGO EV3 kits. Campers will work with a partner to build robots with motors and sensors, then program these robots to perform tasks and respond to their environment.

Kids will learn about Engineering concepts such as Systems Development Life-Cycle, Programming the Robot with EV3 MINDSTORM, problem solving, and teamwork. No prior LEGO Robotics experience is necessary. Students will learn;

- Engineering concepts such as Engineering Design Process
- Building a basic Robot with LEGO pieces
- Programming the Robot with EV3 MINDSTORM block programming language
- Testing the robot on a randomly designed course and modify programming
